Jennifer Love Hewitt On ‘Ghost Whisperer”s 100th Episode

“Ghost Whisperer” turns 100 tonight with a life-in-jeopardy episode directed by series star/executive producer Jennifer Love Hewitt — and ET is behind the scenes.

“It’s a very explosive episode,” Jennifer tells ET of tonight’s 100th show, featuring a ghost who knows of a hidden munitions dump with unexploded bombs … but one is missing and someone could lose their life.

Jennifer said she wanted to direct the episode because she wanted to try controlling Melinda’s world instead of Melinda’s world controlling her, which is what happens when she is acting.

“In acting, you just learn your lines and you go and every once in a while you get a note here and there. In directing, people have so many questions. You’re like, ‘Alright, already. I’ve got to go,’” she says, adding that some day she may want to direct full time.

There was a cake on the set to celebrate the milestone, and Jennifer thanked the cast and crew for all their hard work, saying it is because of it that the show is a success.

Jennifer says that as a result of playing Melinda, her belief in the paranormal is greater than when she started.

“But the biggest thing that’s changed is it’s really taught me that people should live their lives not to have unfinished business, because we don’t know if we’re going to get lucky enough to meet a Melinda Gordon,” she says.

The 100th episode of “Ghost Whisperer” airs tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.
