“Ghost Whisperer” turns 100 tonight with a life-in-jeopardy episode directed by series star/executive producer Jennifer Love Hewitt — and ET is behind the scenes.

“It’s a very explosive episode,” Jennifer tells ET of tonight’s 100th show, featuring a ghost who knows of a hidden munitions dump with unexploded bombs … but one is missing and someone could lose their life.

Jennifer said she wanted to direct the episode because she wanted to try controlling Melinda’s world instead of Melinda’s world controlling her, which is what happens when she is acting.

The Star has a new interview with Jennifer about her new book The Day I Shot Cupid.

Q: What prompted you to write this book?
A: About 4 1/2 years ago after a bad break up, I went to Mexico with girlfriends of all different ages. The topic we got on the fastest was men, how they can mess up and how we women can mess up, too. I wrote up thought pages for everyone. A couple of weeks later, my friend called saying she had sent around the thought pages and some of her friends wanted to get dating advice from me. She said I had a little following. They started calling me and I thought, “Maybe I should turn it into a book.”

Q: So we should call you the Love Whisperer?
A: Yes. Thank you. I like that.

Jennifer Love Hewitt may be the ultimate multihyphenate. First, there’s her work on CBS’ “Ghost Whisperer,” in which she stars as the central character, exec produces and on occasion directs. Then there’s the 10-issue comicbook anthology, “Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Music Box,” which was released in November, and her first book, “The Day I Shot Cupid,” due this month from Hyperion. And now she’s preparing to direct a musicvideo for the band Switchfoot.

“There are so many people who go their whole lives and never get to live one of their dreams, and I’m living all of mine,” Hewitt says. “I’m in a business that allows me to do all of the things that I love. If that doesn’t get you through a long day, I don’t know what will.”
