I interviewed Jennifer Love Hewitt for the new issue of Genlux magazine. We were supposed to meet for lunch one day last month, but after going back and forth with her publicist for a few days and trying to fit it into Jennifer’s crowded schedule, it was decided that it would be easier to do the interview over the phone. I actually like it better this way, since it doesn’t require me to brush my hair, or put on clothes or any of those other time-wasting, totally unnecessary tasks. Also, there’s no chance of me pulling my iPhone out of my purse during an interview and finding a granola bar stuck to it, or getting the urge to wrap up all of Mischa Barton’s shrimp dumplings and take them home with me because she hadn’t touched any of them.

Jennifer Love Hewitt may be rockin’ a bikini on our cover, but she has the same insecurities as every woman. “I’m a girl, after all!” says the 30-year-old actress. “For the most part, yeah, I’m happy with my body, but there are days when I’m like, ‘Ugh! Really? Why is it so hard to fit into my jeans?’ That’s when I say to myself, ‘I look this way because I’m supposed to. If we all looked the same, we’d be boring.’” Here, she reveals her stay-healthy-and-happy strategies as well as her work out that she uses to stay slim and confident.

Put your fridge on a diet To keep her food choices healthy and fresh, Jennifer hits the super-market every two days. “Instead of piling up food in my fridge that says ‘Come eat me!’ I keep enough for only a couple of days. And I rarely have treats around that might tempt me late at night, which is when I usually crave something really fattening. What am I going to do? Drive out at 11 at night just to satisfy a craving? No, that’s crazy.”

If you were finally getting over your 14-yearlong crush on JLH, we apologize for this picture, which will set your recovery back a good decade. Ever since she uttered her first, “Bailey!” on Party of Five, Love has been the object of many a man’s obsession. She left us high and dry for a bit, but her return to the tube on Ghost Whisperer gives us our weekly fix of Love and needy dead people.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking ahead. Way ahead. When she posed for the cover of Maxim for the third time, she thought it would be an ego boost – in the nursing home.

“It’s nice to have the Maxims of the world out there,” she tells the May issue of the magazine, which hits newsstands April 21. “You can look at them when you’re 80 and be like, ‘See? No, really, I was cute. I promise!’ ”

The actress, who is dating funnyman Jamie Kennedy, says that a man must have a sense of humor to win her heart. “The two biggest things are being trustworthy and funny. Humor doesn’t fade. If you’re a funny person, you will always be a funny person.”
